Exodus 25:8, 40 (ESV) And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, as before. 19 The people came up out of the

Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they encamped at Gilgal on the east border ofJoshua Jericho. 4:18-19 (ESV) 18 Then the whole congregation of the people of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there. The

land lay subdued Joshua 18:1 (ESV) And he left Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon 40 to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, to do all that is

commanded to shepherd my people, saying, Why have you not built me a house of cedar? 1 Chronicles 17:5-6 (ESV) 5 At that time, when David saw that the Lord had answered him at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he sacrificed

there. 29 For the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses had made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering were at that time in the high place at Gibeon, 30 but David could not go before it to inquire of God, for (ESV) he 1 Chronicles 21:28-30 28

And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. 4 And they brought up the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up. 5 And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were 1 Kings 8:3-11

(parallel account in 2 with him before the ark, Chronicles 5) 3 Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath

the wings of the cherubim. 7 For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles. 8 And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the Holy Place before the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen 1 Kings 8:3-11 (ESV) from outside. And they are there to 6 There was nothing in the

ark except the two tablets of stone that Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. 10 And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could not stand to minister 1 Kings 8:3-11 (ESV) 9

Therefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand. 18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon. 19 And they burned the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem and burned all its palaces with fire and

destroyed all its 2 precious vessels. Chronicles 36:17-21 (ESV) 17 He took into exile in Babylon those who had escaped from the sword, and they became servants to him and to his sons until the establishment of the kingdom of Persia, 21 to fulfill the word of

the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. All the days that it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years. 2 Chronicles 36:17-21 (ESV) 20 And when the builders laid the

foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the directions of David king of Israel. 10 Ezra 3:10-11 (ESV) And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to

the Lord, For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was Ezra 3:10-11 (ESV) laid. 11 And behold, the

curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 51 Matthew 27:51 (ESV) 24 Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to

him the buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will Matthew 24:1-2 (ESV) not be thrown down. For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The Temple as a Type The Physical Body The One Church The Congregation According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay

a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw 10 1 Corinthians 3:9-17 (ESV) each ones work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of

work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyones work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. 13 1 Corinthians 3:9-17 (ESV) Do you not know that you are Gods temple and that Gods Spirit

dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys Gods temple, God will destroy him. For Gods temple is holy, and you are that temple. 16 1 Corinthians 3:9-17 (ESV) For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints

and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 18 Ephesians 2:18-22 (ESV) in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built

together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. 21 Ephesians 2:18-22 (ESV) The Temple as a Type The Physical Body The One Church The Congregation I tell you, something greater

than the temple is here. 7 And if you had known what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. 6 Matthew 12:6-7 (ESV) THE TEMPLE AS A TYPE
