OUT OF CONTEXT T3 November 2017 Meeting Miss - Communication/Interpretation Differing Perspectives MASK STORY

Men in masks came in and took my brother from me. They lead him to a room and locked the door. They had knives with which they used to cut him open and rip out his heart. There were people outside the room that knew this was happening and they could have tried to stop it. This is what I imagin

e This is the truth! (Everything changes in the right context!)

OUR BODY IS A TEMPLE: I Corinthians 6:19 Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. * What do you think is the meaning of our body is a temple in this verse? * How do you think most people use this verse? * What about we are not our own?

OUR BODY IS A TEMPLE (CONTINUED): What the world thinks AKA Google search: health kick OUR BODY IS A TEMPLE (CONTINUED): What the bible says:

Sexual Immorality 12I have the right to do anything, you saybut not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anythingbut I will not be mastered by anything. 13You say, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both. The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, The two will become one flesh.b 17But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. c

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. OUR BODY IS A TEMPLE (CONTINUED): Lets talk about it: Most of the world thinks about this verse in the terms of weight

management, not smoking, exercising, keeping a clear mind mostly superficial things. This verse is first and foremost about sexual immorality and purity. It says to FLEE from lust not sit on the couch with it. (Joseph fled from Potiphar's wife and he was protected.) A lot of times we put ourselves into temptation situations and then wonder how we get into trouble. Be pure of spirit and healthy, yes but when referencing this verse, lets do it justice and talk about some of the hard topics!

JUDGE NOT: Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. * What is your first thought when reading this verse? * How do you classify judging? JUDGE NOT (CONTINUED): What the world thinks AKA Google search: I do what I want without consequence)

JUDGE NOT (CONTINUED): What the bible says: (2 verses before this) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 7:1-3 Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye;

and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Matthew 18:15 If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. JUDGE NOT (CONTINUED): Lets talk about it: Calling sin sin is not judgment it is how you go about it. We are

called to hold each other accountable, and letting someone stay in their sin is the opposite of love. (Its not what you say but how you say it). If you are doing what is right and go to someone out of love and tell them you are worried about them, it might make the blow a little less hard. FORGIVE AND FORGET: Where in the bible does it say forgive and forget? What are your thoughts on this? Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly

Father will also forgive you Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Forgiveness is a decision of the will. Since God commands us to forgive, we must make a conscious choice to obey God and forgive. The offender may not desire forgiveness and may not ever change, but that doesnt negate Gods desire that we possess a forgiving spirit

FORGIVE AND FORGET (CONTINUED): What the world thinks AKA Google search: act like it never happened or dont forgive FORGIVE AND FORGET (CONTINUED): Forgiveness is a decision of the will. Since God commands us to forgive, we must make a conscious choice to obey God and forgive. The offender may not desire forgiveness and may not ever change, but that doesnt negate Gods desire that we

possess a forgiving spirit If by forgive and forget one means, I choose to forgive the offender for the sake of Christ and move on with my life, then this is a wise and godly course of action. However, if by forgive and forget one means, I will act as if the sin had never occurred and live as if I dont remember it, then we can run into trouble. For example, a rape victim can choose to forgive the rapist, but that does not mean she should act as if that sin had never happened. To spend time alone with the rapist, especially if he is unrepentant, is not what Scripture teaches. Forgiveness involves not holding a sin against a person any longer, but forgiveness is different from trust. It is wise to take precautions, and sometimes the dynamics of a relationship will have

to change. The prudent see danger and take refuge, / but the simple keep going and pay the penalty (Proverbs 22:3). Reference: FORGIVE AND FORGET(CONTINUED): Lets talk about it: The bible does not say to forget, though we are not supposed to hold onto things forever either. It is healthy for us to move forward

without hatred in our hearts, but also be wise about what we let hurt us. We have to love everyone, but we dont have to be best friends with everyone. 1 CORINTHIANS 13 (LOVE): 13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not

envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of

these is love. What are your thoughts on these verses? How can anyone be confused about love? 1 CORINTHIANS 13 (LOVE CONTINUED): What the world thinks AKA Google search: fairy tale romance 1 CORINTHIANS 13 (LOVE CONTINUED):

Lets talk about it: Love is a choice we need to stop thinking of it as a feeling. (Ex: falling in and out of love, marriage vows vs. divorce rate) *If love is not a choice then hate would not be a choice ADD ONS Money is not the root of all evil the love of money can be. Apple being the fruit in the garden of Eden How Cain killed Abel (Maybe not just a rock could have punched him and he fell and hit his head, but there is still a consequence)

Idols (historical spiritual artifacts?) Belief in vs belief that ***We dont know every aspect of the lives of the people in the bible, but given the big picture things we can get through life some specifics (tabernacle, ark, sacrifice but other thing will leave us to interpret
