We work with children / young people / families with needs linked to social communication difficulties ( it might already be diagnosed as autism/asc/asd etc.) Why get in touch with the ASC Team ? Why seek specialist advice? A childs/young persons primary need has been identified as social communication difficulties /autism Although sometimes there might be another

explanation Could it be something different? AND QFT / General strategies / interventions / Support Plan are already in place and have been evaluated BUT You are unsure as to what to do next WHEN TO SEEK ADVICE FROM THE ASC TEAM? OUR ADVICE IS MOST EFFECTIVE WHEN THE SETTING CAN SHOW GRADUATED RESPONSE ASPECTS OF QUALITY FIRST TEACHING ARE IN PLACE GENERALISED KNOWLEDGE HAS BEEN APPLIED

YOU HAVE CHECKED THE AUTISM THRESHOLD DOCUMENT TO ENSURE THAT INITIAL SUPPORT IS IN PLACE THERE IS AN INDIVIDUAL PLAN THAT ADDRESSES THE MAIN CONCERNS ABOUT THE CHILD AS THEY RELATE TO THE CHILDS SOCIAL COMMUNICATION NEEDS THE PLAN HAS BEEN EVALUATED How to get in touch? [email protected] We have a contact form This needs to be completed with

parents. It looks at strengths as well as concerns. It looks specifically at the areas we think might be impacted on by poor social communication skills/autism It aims to help parents and setting to identify what they think needs to change/improve/develop. What might we do?

Well seek information from school/ parents Ask questions/ask for more information Observe Identify key areas of strength Look at whats working

Consider the things the child finds most difficult. Set some targets and agree an action plan Suggest certain approaches Review previous targets/action plan This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND Verbal advice / support Verbal or written feedback Consultation notes Model strategies Offer training for specific interventions Planning meeting generalisation with Class
